I was referred to AIR Sports Network through Probation in October 2014, I was a mess, my life was all about drugs, finding money for drugs, offending to find money and taking drugs. I was smoking cannabis, doing cocaine and crack. I ended up in trouble and being in prison, I needed to straighten my life out, get clean and start looking to the future away from drugs.
I went along to AIR at a time when I was low, I was unmotivated, had zero enthusiasm for anything and was unhealthy and unfit. I was looking for something to help change my life, I wasn't sure about AIR before I went. I’d tried other things in the past but nothing had got me interested or worked.
I’ve been working with the AIR Staff every week at the mentoring programme and the one to one person training programme. The ability to contact staff when I need it has been a massive help to me and I can’t rate the quality of it enough. I've needed help outside of work hours and AIR have always been there for me.
I’ve changed a lot since I started 5 months ago, I'm fitter, healthier, more confident, happier and motivated now. A big part of that change is the support I've had from the AIR team.
I’ve now taken on a voluntary role with CRI and I want to graduate from the Amy Winehouse Foundation, I’m also looking to complete a health and social qualification. Long term I’d like to do something similar to the work AIR does and would love to work with them in some capacity in the future.
I promote AIR wherever I go as I know it really works, it’ll get you fit, both mentally and physically and will turn your life around if you give it a chance. I’m glad that AIR is in my life and you will be too.”
