Before long, Max asked staff if he could get involved in fitness coaching within the programme with a view to rekindling his career as a personal trainer. With support from the staff team, Max began volunteering at AIR’s Southend Breakfast club, delivering 30 minute fitness sessions to clients with drug and alcohol issues.
Working with the support of AIR staff, Max has really embraced the opportunities on offer at AIR, he has put in so much hard work, used the structure, support and challenges of the programme to put his previous issues aside and has developed into a happier, fitter and more positive individual.
Max’s key worker at CRI commented: ‘Max has done really well, He has engaged voluntarily with interventions and has shown real progress in not only his overcoming his drug use and criminal behaviour but also in his cognitive processes” Perseverance, hard work and keeping an eye firmly on the future has categorised Max time with AIR, he quickly developed a goal and worked really hard to achieve it, in fact Max recently had his first amateur boxing match and won a 75kg EBU amateur boxing European title.
A brilliant result for Max and a reminder that with hard work and determination, dreams do come true.
