AIR Sports are delighted to have partnered with CRI for the launch of a major new sport for development initiative in Newham. Launching in August, the programme will see AIR engage with the Borough’s most vulnerable, disadvantaged and hardest to reach individuals through the creation of local sports and education hubs in Stratford, Becton, West Ham and Forest Gate.
The aim of the programme is to support individuals with substance and alcohol misuse issues into a challenging sports, education and wellbeing programme and support them into transforming their lives and engaging successfully with the community.
Services on offer in Newham comprises weekday, evening and weekend sport sessions, this includes breakfast and lunch clubs, football coaching, boxercise and multi-ability fitness and wellbeing sessions.
As well as participating in a range of health and fitness focused activity sessions, individuals will have access to AIR’s innovative education, vocational and mentoring programmes as well as its highly successful one to one wrap around support service.
Colm Whitty, Director of AIR Sports said “Working with CRI will enable us to engage and support the hardest to reach and most vulnerable individuals in Newham. The project itself is an exciting structured mix of education, wellbeing, support and community networking and is an ideal opportunity to really support people in developing the resilience, social capital and transferable skills that ensures they can really take control of their lives.”
AIR Sports has over 7 years’ experience in delivering services with the hardest to reach individuals across London and the South East and since its launch has helped over 8000 individuals transform their lives.
