On the 19th August AIR Sports Network in partnership with Serco, MTCnovo and London CRC delivered a fantastic reducing reoffending event at Thameside Prison.
With over 100 individuals (shortly to be released) in attendance, the day give us an opportunity to work with many of our existing Lambeth IOM pre-release prison programme clients and the facility to promote the programme to the whole prison.
Covering a full day, the event also gave some of our partners and funders the opportunity to see the work of the programme first hand, meet some of the inmates and talk to staff about working with AIR Sports Network. Director Colm Whitty said “ Today was all about bringing AIR Sports Network directly into the prison and engaging face to face with individuals on short release.
This was a perfect opportunity to showcase what we do and what we can offer individuals when they are released. Our work with offenders has shown us that the time just after release is crucial and if individuals are supported at the time they need it, the right support can make a significant difference to their chances of moving away from offending….
We were absolutely delighted with the response from the prisoners and engaged with over 100 on the day, many of whom are now keen to work with us on release. The day also allowed our staff the opportunity to conduct a significant reducing reoffending questionnaire to identify likely re-offending trigger factors amongst prolific offenders”.
